Job summary

Festive, part of the Astral Group, is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to ensure continuous, safe, and efficient operation of specialised slaughtering and processing lines. The role focuses on minimising downtime and improving plant performance.

The ideal candidate will have a technical qualification in electrical engineering with a Certificate of Competency for Factories, and be prepared to work overtime and weekends. Poultry/FMCG experience is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Technical tertiary qualification in electrical field with a Certificate of Competency for Factories.
• Willing to work overtime and weekends when necessary.
• Experience in Poultry/FMCG plants is advantageous.
• Knowledge of the 20 Keys Program is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Continuously optimize and analyse the processing plant's preventative maintenance.
• Assist with preventative scheduling, task lists, reports and analyses to optimise the plant.
• Optimize stock control of all engineering parts.
• Contract management, planning, control and implementation of capital projects.
• Assist in compiling the annual maintenance budget and control.
• Implement & maintain sustainable projects to improve plant running costs per unit.
• Interact daily with various departmental and inter-group stakeholders at management level.

Job description

Festive, one of South Africa's leading integrated poultry producers within the Astral Group, is seeking a Maintenance Engineer for its engineering commercial division. The role will focus on ensuring continuous, safe, and efficient operation of specialised slaughtering and processing while minimising costly downtime.

The ideal candidate would be responsible for:

• Continuous optimization and analysis of the processing plant's preventative maintenance
• Assisting with preventative scheduling, task lists, reports and analyses to optimize plant
• Optimizing stock control of all engineering parts.
• Contract management, planning, control and implementation of capital projects.
• Assisting in compiling the annual maintenance budget and control.
• Implementation & maintenance of sustainable projects on site that will improve plant running costs per unit.
• Daily interaction with various departmental & inter-group role players at management level.

The successful candidate must meet the following requirements:

• Must have a technical tertiary qualification preferably in the electrical field with a “Certificate of Competency for Factories” or be in the process of obtaining one.
• Must be able to work overtime & on weekends when necessary.
• Experience in a Poultry Plant or FMCG plant will be to your advantage.
• Knowledge of the 20 Keys Program will be an added advantage.
