Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior Facilities Maintenance Manager to oversee all facilities across Pietermaritzburg sites. Lead a diverse team, implement preventive maintenance programs and manage budgets to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operations.

You will coordinate with contractors, supervise building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, structural), and drive continuous improvement while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in facilities management with supervisory experience
• Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing)
• Experience with budgeting and cost controls
• Proven leadership and team management skills
• Familiarity with health, safety and environmental regulations
• Proficient with CMMS and related software

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and manage preventive and corrective maintenance programs
• Oversee building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, structural)
• Lead maintenance team including supervisors and technicians
• Coordinate with third-party contractors for major projects
• Prepare and manage annual facilities maintenance budget
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and building regulations
• Conduct site inspections to identify needs and risks
• Oversee space planning, renovations and minor capital projects
• Maintain relationships with vendors and service providers
• Respond to urgent facility issues and ensure timely resolution
• Maintain records of maintenance activities and asset costs
