Job summary

Placements24 in South Africa is seeking a Senior Facilities Engineer for a fully remote role within the Oil & Gas sector. You will oversee design, construction, operation, and maintenance of production facilities, ensuring safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance from a remote location.

You will lead P&ID development, process simulations, and facility integrity programs, mentor engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in facilities engineering within the Oil & Gas industry.
• Proven experience in the design, construction, and operation of upstream production facilities.
• Strong knowledge of process simulation, P&ID development, and equipment design.
• In-depth understanding of safety regulations and industry standards (e.g., API, ASME).
• Experience with facility integrity management and maintenance strategies.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Exceptional communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, essential for effective remote collaboration.
• Ability to manage projects and provide technical direction in a remote environment.
• Must be legally authorized to work remotely for a South African-based company.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering expertise for design, modification, and troubleshooting of oil and gas production facilities, including separation, processing, and utility systems.
• Develop P&IDs, equipment specifications, and design packages for facility projects.
• Ensure all facility designs and operations comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee facility integrity management programs, including inspection, maintenance, and risk assessment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, operations, and HSE, to ensure successful project execution and safe operations.
• Analyze operational data to identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and performance improvement.
• Lead and participate in HAZOP studies and other process safety reviews for facility modifications and new designs.
• Provide technical support to operations and maintenance teams for troubleshooting and problem-solving.
• Stay current with the latest technologies and best practices in oil and gas facility engineering.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the technical development of the engineering department.
