Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior Facilities Engineer to join a dedicated team in Klerksdorp, South Africa. The role oversees design, construction, operation and maintenance of oil and gas production facilities, ensuring safety, environmental and operational standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Civil or Chemical).
• 7+ years of facilities engineering experience in oil & gas.
• Experience in project management, construction oversight and commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Manage design/ modification of oil & gas processing facilities (pipelines, separators, storage).
• Oversee construction, commissioning and start-up of new/upgraded facilities.
• Develop maintenance strategies for asset integrity and reliability.
• Conduct facility risk assessments and HAZOP studies per safety regulations.
• Coordinate with project teams, operations and contractors.
• Optimize facility performance to improve production efficiency and reduce costs.

About the Role

This position is essential for overseeing the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of production facilities within the oil and gas sector. You will ensure that all facilities meet stringent safety, environmental, and operational standards. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of facility engineering principles and a strong commitment to operational excellence and risk management.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the design and modification of oil and gas processing facilities, including pipelines, separators, and storage systems.
• Oversee construction, commissioning, and start-up activities for new facilities and upgrades.
• Develop and implement maintenance strategies to ensure asset integrity and reliability.
• Conduct facility risk assessments and HAZOP studies, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
• Coordinate with project teams, operations personnel, and external contractors.
• Optimize facility performance to enhance production efficiency and reduce operational costs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in facilities engineering in the oil and gas industry.
• Proven experience in project management, construction oversight, and commissioning.
• Strong knowledge of P&IDs, equipment specifications, and industry codes (e.g., API, ASME).
• Familiarity with HSE regulations and best practices for industrial facilities.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
