Placements24 in Stellenbosch, Western Cape, seeks a Senior Exploration Geologist to advance our client’s oil and gas exploration program. You will integrate geological, geophysical, and engineering data to identify prospects, assess risks, and guide drilling campaigns within a multidisciplinary team.

Applicants should hold a Master’s or Ph.D. in Geology (or related earth science) and have at least 10 years’ relevant experience, with strong interpretation and reporting skills.

• 10+ years of progressive experience in exploration geology.
• Proven success identifying and maturing exploration prospects.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed geological mapping and analysis of exploration acreage.

• Identify, evaluate, and rank exploration prospects based on geological risk and potential volumes.
• Develop geological models and play fairway analyses to guide exploration.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. degree in Geology, Petroleum Geology, or a related earth science discipline.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in exploration geology within the Oil & Gas industry.
• Demonstrated success in identifying and maturing exploration prospects in various geological settings.
• Expertise in sequence stratigraphy, sedimentology, structural geology, and petroleum systems analysis.
• Proficiency with industry-standard geological interpretation and modeling software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex data.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with basin modeling and advanced subsurface characterization techniques is highly desirable.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Familiarity with remote sensing and GIS applications in geology is a plus.
