Placements24 seeks a Lead Geologist for a progressive mining and exploration company in Stellenbosch, Western Cape. You will guide exploration programs, interpret complex data, and identify high-potential targets with emphasis on energy minerals.

You will develop innovative strategies, model subsurface geology in 3D, manage budgets and timelines, ensure regulatory compliance, and mentor geologists while coordinating with engineers and management.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Geology, Economic Geology, or a related Earth Science discipline
• Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in mineral exploration, with leadership experience
• Proven ability to discover economic mineral deposits
• Expertise in structural geology, stratigraphy, and metallogeny relevant to target commodities
• Proficiency in geological modeling software (Leapfrog, Vulcan, Micromine)
• Strong geophysics and geochemistry knowledge
• Experience managing projects from greenfield exploration to resource definition
• Excellent leadership and communication skills
• Familiarity with South African mining legislation and regulatory requirements
• Ability to travel extensively to remote exploration sites
• Professional Geoscientist (Pr.Sci.Nat) registration is advantageous

About the Role
