Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Exploration Geochemist to lead geochemical exploration efforts in Benoni. You will design surveys, oversee lab analyses, and integrate geochemical data with geology to identify new mineral prospects. Strong statistical skills and lab QC are essential to guide strategic exploration decisions.

You will manage sampling programs, analyze complex datasets, and present findings to the exploration team and management. International travel may be involved as projects expand.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Geochemistry or related earth science field.
• Minimum 7 years of mineral exploration geochemistry experience.
• Strong skills in statistical analysis and data visualization software (R, Python, ioGAS).
• Solid understanding of analytical techniques and QC in geochemical labs.
• Ability to interpret geochemical results across diverse deposit styles and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement geochemical exploration programs (soil, stream sediment, rock chip sampling).
• Oversee collection, preparation and analysis of geochemical samples.
• Interpret geochemical data using statistics and multivariate methods to locate targets.
• Integrate geochemical results with geological and geophysical data to generate high-quality targets.
• Prepare detailed geochemical reports and present findings to teams and management.
• Stay current with advancements in geochemical exploration techniques.
