Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a geologist to join a mineral exploration team in Benoni, Gauteng. You will identify and evaluate new prospects, conduct field surveys, map and sample, and help build geological models to support potential mining opportunities.

You will work closely with senior geologists and exploration managers, use ArcGIS/Leapfrog, and contribute to drilling planning, reporting, and presentation of findings. This role offers hands-on career development in a reputable mining company.

Qualifications

• Degree in Geology or Earth Sciences.
• Experience in mineral exploration fieldwork, including mapping and sampling.
• Familiarity with geological software is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of geological principles and mineralization.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Physical fitness for fieldwork.

Responsibilities

• Conduct geological mapping, sampling, and core logging for exploration projects in and around Benoni.
• Utilize geological software for data analysis, interpretation, and visualization.
• Assist in planning and execution of drilling programs and other exploration activities.
• Prepare geological reports, summaries, and presentations on exploration findings.
• Collaborate with the exploration team to define drilling targets and resource potential.
• Maintain detailed field notes and databases of geological information.
