RPO Recruitment’s client, a leading building contractor, seeks an experienced Senior Estimator / Estimating Manager for KwaZulu-Natal. Lead tendering on major projects, prepare competitive cost estimates, and ensure timely submissions.

The role requires 10+ years in building estimating, proficiency with estimating software, and a strong commercial acumen. Salary is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years estimating experience within the building construction sector.
• Proven track record pricing commercial, industrial, residential and mixed-use building projects.
• Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for building projects.
• Review drawings, specifications and contract documentation to determine project scope and pricing requirements.
• Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Identify project risks, opportunities and value engineering options.
• Compile Bills of Quantities, pricing schedules and tender adjudication documentation.
• Work closely with directors, contracts managers, quantity surveyors and project teams during the tender process.
• Attend site inspections, tender clarification meetings and client presentations where required.
• Maintain an up-to-date database of subcontractor pricing, suppliers and historical project costs.
• Ensure all tenders are submitted accurately and within required deadlines.
• Assist with handover meetings following successful tender awards.
• Mentor and support junior estimators where applicable.

The successful candidate will play a key role in securing new work by preparing accurate, competitive and commercially sound tenders while contributing to the continued growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
• Minimum of 10 years' estimating experience within the building construction sector.
• Proven track record pricing commercial, industrial, residential and mixed-use building projects.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing, contracts and pricing principles.
• Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office.
• Valid driver's licence.
