Job summary

RPO Recruitment's client, a well-established building contractor in Cape Town, seeks an experienced Estimating Manager / Senior Estimator to lead the estimating function and oversee tenders across a range of construction projects.

You will own the estimating process from tender review through submission, manage three junior estimators, and ensure pricing and tender documents meet required standards in a competitive market.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or related field.
• 10–20 years’ experience in the building construction industry.
• Proven ability to prepare and manage tenders independently from start to finish using Candy / CCS.
• Strong working knowledge of NEC and JBCC contracts.
• Experience with government and private-sector projects.
• Previous experience leading an estimating team and overseeing the full estimating function.

Responsibilities

• Manage the complete estimating and tendering process.
• Review tender documentation, specifications, drawings and bills of quantities.
• Prepare accurate cost estimates, pricing schedules and tender submissions using Candy / CCS.
• Assess project costs, risks and commercial considerations.
• Ensure compliance with tender requirements and contractual conditions.
• Lead and mentor a team of three estimating support staff.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure timely and competitive tender submissions.
