Job summary

RPO Recruitment's client in Cape Town seeks an experienced Senior Building Estimator to join the team. You will prepare cost estimates, analyze drawings and tender documentation, and manage supplier quotations for large-scale building projects.

With 10+ years of estimating experience and a strong grasp of construction methods and pricing principles, you will guide tender pricing, risk assessment, value engineering, and timely submissions, collaborating closely with contracts managers and QS

Qualifications

• 10+ years' estimating experience with a reputable building contractor.
• Proven track record estimating large-scale building projects from tender to award.
• Strong understanding of construction methods and pricing principles.
• Familiarity with CCS Candy and BuildSmart is advantageous.
• Valid driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate cost estimates and competitive tender submissions.
• Analyse drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Obtain and evaluate quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Compile Bills of Quantities, pricing schedules and tender reports.
• Identify project risks and opportunities during the tender process.
• Conduct site inspections and attend tender clarification meetings when required.
• Work closely with contracts managers, quantity surveyors and project teams to ensure accurate pricing.
• Assist with value engineering and cost-saving proposals.
• Ensure tenders are submitted within required deadlines.
• Maintain an up-to-date database of suppliers, subcontractors and current market rates.
