Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly analytical Senior Estimator to join our client in Klerksdorp. You will develop accurate and competitive cost estimates for a range of construction projects, from bids to proposals, quantifying materials, labour and equipment while assessing risks.

You will lead tender submissions, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with bid teams, project managers and engineers to ensure profitable, well-grounded estimates for the North West region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in construction estimating with a proven bid track record.
• Proficiency in CCS Candy and Buildsoft; able to read complex drawings.
• Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and pricing standards.
• Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for tenders and bids across various construction projects.
• Quantify labor, materials, plant and subcontractor costs from drawings, specs, site visits.
• Analyze plans to identify scope, risks and value engineering opportunities.
• Collaborate with bid team, project managers and engineers on tender submissions.
• Maintain up-to-date material costs, labor rates and subcontractor pricing.

• Maintain an up-to-date database of material costs, labor rates, and subcontractor pricing to ensure accuracy in estimates.
• Review and critique estimates prepared by junior staff, providing guidance and mentorship.

Requirements

• A minimum of 6 years of experience in construction estimating, with a strong portfolio of successfully bid projects.
• Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., CCS Candy, Buildsoft) and the ability to read and interpret complex construction drawings.
