Placements24 in Nelspruit invites an experienced Senior Industrial Engineer specializing in Ergonomics and Human Factors to lead workstation design and safety initiatives in a chemical processing environment.

You will assess tasks, apply anthropometry and biomechanics, develop ergonomic programs, and collaborate with safety and production teams to improve efficiency and worker wellbeing.

A master's degree and 6+ years of related experience are required; certification in Ergonomics is a plus.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required in Industrial Engineering, Ergonomics, Human Factors, or related field.
• Minimum 6 years in industrial engineering with strong ergonomics focus.
• Proven ergonomic risk assessment experience and effective solutions.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive ergonomic assessments of workstations, tools, and tasks across all operational areas.
• Identify ergonomic hazards such as awkward postures, repetitive motions and forceful exertions.
• Design and recommend workstation, equipment and process improvements to reduce ergonomic risks and improve comfort.
• Develop and implement ergonomic programs and training for employees and management.
• Utilize ergonomic assessment tools to quantify risks and evaluate intervention effectiveness.
• Collaborate with Health and Safety to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Analyze workflow to optimize human performance and reduce physical strain.
• Participate in facility and equipment design to embed ergonomic principles.
• Investigate workplace injuries related to ergonomics and propose corrective actions.
• Stay updated on ergonomics research, tools, and best practices.
