Placements24 is seeking a Senior Environmental Engineer to join a fully remote team in South Africa. The role focuses on developing and implementing environmental solutions for major projects, performing EIAs, and guiding remediation strategies while ensuring regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate has a Master’s in Environmental or Civil Engineering with 8+ years of progressive experience, strong reporting skills, and professional registration is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Environmental or civil engineering or related science.
• 8+ years in environmental consulting or engineering.
• Strong knowledge of SA environmental legislation (e.g., NEMA).
• Experience conducting EIAs and developing EMPs.
• Remote-work capable with strong communication and reporting skills.
• Professional registration (e.g., Pr.Eng., Pr.Sci.Nat.) is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead EIAs and develop environmental management plans (EMPs).
• Ensure compliance with national and local environmental regulations.
• Advise on mitigation measures and sustainable design practices.
• Manage environmental monitoring programs and interpret results.
• Develop remediation strategies for contaminated sites.
• Collaborate with project teams and regulatory agencies via virtual platforms.
