Job summary

N & P Consulting in Durban seeks an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to collaborate with sales reps and key clients. You will develop designs, specifications and proposals for LV switchgear, motor control, power quality, and back-up power while supporting turnover targets.

You will work across Industrial and Commercial markets, translating site requirements into compliant BOQs. A strong commercial lens and brand familiarity with Schneider, Eaton, Siemens and Telemechanique are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering
• Dip/BTech/B.Sc. in Electrical - Heavy current - Power
• Professional registration preferable but not essential
• Minimum 5 years' experience in Electrical Design for industrial/commercial clients
• Experience partnering with sales to meet financial targets with a commercial lens
• Valid driver’s licence required

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical opportunities with clients through Sales reps
• Support sales to achieve electrical turnover and margin targets
• Identify opportunities in LV switchgear, motor control, power quality and related areas
• Create designs, specifications and proposals to win enquiries
• Join site visits and customer roadshows to showcase technical input
• Prepare accurate, compliant BOQs and proposals
• Maintain current knowledge across key brands (Schneider, Eaton, Siemens, Tele)
• Provide technical support on design issues and post-sale warranty resolution

Education

Bachelor's degree / Dip/BTech / B.Sc. Engineer - Electrical

PR. Eng. preferable

5+ years in Electrical Design

Commercial awareness
