Job summary

Qualifications

• BEng in Electrical Engineering required.
• Pr.Eng in Electrical Engineering required.
• 10+ years of operation and design experience in electrical engineering.
• Strong knowledge of SANS standards and the MHS Act.
• Solid technical product knowledge and PLC/SCADA familiarity.

Responsibilities

SENIOR ELECTRICAL ENGINEER – PRETORIA

Our client, a well-established engineering firm specialising in electrical design and industrial automation solutions, is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to lead their electrical engineering department.

This role is both managerial and technical, responsible for the planning, directing and coordination of professional electrical designs to meet client-specific requirements while ensuring compliance with relevant legal and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

Managerial:

• Manage and control the electrical engineering department and all associated activities
• Ensure all projects adhere to company quality systems and safety standards
• Monitor and support the electrical design team, applying industry best practices
• Ensure technical projects meet deadlines, eliminate waste, and remain profitable
• Team development planning and mentoring of drafts people and engineers
• Report risks and gaps in projects

Technical

• Review and sign off detailed electrical designs according to applicable standards and scope of works
• Align designs with industry best practices for cost management and safety compliance
• Liaise with clients on design specifications and requirements
• Prepare scope of work, specifications, bill of quantities, and tender documentation
• Compile data packs for manufacturing and software engineering phases
• Conduct site audits and compile compliance reports
• Complete and review detailed medium voltage and low voltage electrical designs
• Prepare and manage commissioning procedures and documentation

Requirements

• BEng in Electrical Engineering
• Pr.Eng in Electrical Engineering
• 10+ years' operational and design experience, including relevant design software exposure
• Strong knowledge of SANS standards and the MHS Act
• Solid technical product knowledge
• Basic knowledge of PLC and SCADA systems
• MCC design (SANS) knowledge

Location

Based in Pretoria- East, with travel to project sites across Africa, South Africa, and internationally as required.
