Job summary

Recruitpro Solutions seeks an experienced Electrical Engineering Manager to lead the electrical engineering department, ensuring quality, safety, and profitability across projects. You will mentor draftspeople and engineers, review designs, and liaise with clients on specifications.

Pretoria-based role with travel across Africa and internationally as required. Strong knowledge of SANS standards and mining/industrial plant design exposure are essential.

Qualifications

• Requires BEng or equivalent, registration preferred for seniority.
• 10+ years in operational and design roles within electrical engineering.
• Pr.Eng or Pr.Tech registration is highly advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage and control the electrical engineering department and activities.
• Ensure projects meet quality systems, safety standards, deadlines, and profitability.
• Mentor draftspeople and engineers, report risks and gaps in projects.
• Review and sign off detailed electrical designs per standards.
• Prepare scope of work, BOQ, and tender documentation; liaise with clients.

Job description

Key Responsibilities:

Managerial:

• Manage and control the electrical engineering department and all associated activities
• Ensure all projects adhere to company quality systems and safety standards
• Monitor and support the electrical design team, applying industry best practices
• Ensure technical projects meet deadlines, eliminate waste, and remain profitable
• Team development planning and mentoring of drafts people and engineers
• Report risks and gaps in projects

Technical:

• Review and sign off detailed electrical designs according to applicable standards and scope of works
• Align designs with industry best practices for cost management and safety compliance
• Liaise with clients on design specifications and requirements
• Prepare scope of work, specifications, bill of quantities, and tender documentation
• Compile data packs for manufacturing and software engineering phases
• Conduct site audits and compile compliance reports
• Complete and review detailed medium voltage and low voltage electrical designs
• Prepare and manage commissioning procedures and documentation

Requirements:

• BEng in Electrical Engineering or equivalent NQF qualification (preferred); alternatively a Diploma or BTech/MTech
• Pr.Eng or Pr.Tech registration in Electrical Engineering (highly advantageous)
• 10+ years' operational and design experience, including relevant design software exposure
• Strong knowledge of SANS standards and the MHS Act
• Solid technical product knowledge
• Basic knowledge of PLC and SCADA systems
• Industrial plant design experience
• Mining design experience
• MCC design (SANS) knowledge

Location:

Pretoria-based, with travel to project sites across Africa, South Africa, and internationally as required.
