Job summary

Recruitpro Solutions seeks an Electrical Engineer to join an established design team in Pretoria. You will own detailed LV/MV designs, produce schematics and BOMs, and support MCC/motor control work on site and remotely. You’ll liaise with clients and drive projects from conception to handover, under senior guidance.

Ideal candidates have 4–8 years in industrial environments, with ECSA Candidate Engineer status or path to Pr.Eng, and proficiency with PLC/SCADA systems and AutoCAD Electrical.

Qualifications

• BEng in Electrical Engineering or equivalent; a BTech will be considered.
• ECSA registration as Candidate Engineer with path to Pr.Eng advantageous.
• 4–8 years' electrical design and project experience in industrial settings.
• Practical LV and MV design experience; SANS knowledge.
• MCC and motor control design exposure; PLC/SCADA familiarity.
• Strong communication and ability to work independently under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Complete detailed LV and MV electrical designs per standards and scope.
• Produce schematics, general arrangement drawings, cable schedules and layouts.
• Prepare specifications, BOQs and BOMs for procurement and planning.
• Compile data packs for manufacturing and software phases.
• Support MCC and motor control design per SANS requirements.
• Participate in installation, testing, commissioning and handover on client sites.
• Conduct site audits and compile compliance and technical reports.
• Provide technical support for breakdowns on site and remotely.
• Liaise with clients on design specs and requirements.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver on time and budget.
• Ensure all work complies with quality, safety and legislation.

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established engineering firm specialising in electrical design and industrial automation solutions. They are looking for an Electrical Engineer who can step into an established design team and contribute from day one. This is a hands-on technical role suited to an engineer with solid project delivery experience who is ready to take ownership of designs and site work under the guidance of the senior engineering team.
Duties & Responsibilities

• Complete detailed low voltage and medium voltage electrical designs in line with applicable standards and the approved scope of works
• Produce electrical schematics, general arrangement drawings, cable schedules and wiring layouts
• Prepare specifications, bills of quantities and bills of materials to support procurement and project planning
• Compile data packs for the manufacturing and software engineering phases
• Support MCC and motor control design in accordance with SANS requirements
• Participate in installation, testing, commissioning and handover activities on client sites
• Conduct site audits and inspections, and compile compliance and technical reports
• Provide technical support for breakdowns and fault finding, both on site and remotely
• Liaise with clients on design specifications and technical requirements
• Work alongside multidisciplinary project teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to specification
• Ensure all work complies with company quality systems, safety standards and relevant legislation

Experience & Qualifications

• BEng in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent NQF qualification; a BTech will also be considered
• ECSA registration as a Candidate Engineer, with a clear path toward Pr.Eng registration (advantageous)
• 4 to 8 years' electrical design and project experience in an industrial, plant or mining environment
• Practical low voltage and medium voltage design experience
• Working knowledge of SANS standards, SANS 10142 and the Mine Health and Safety Act
• MCC and motor control design exposure
• Basic to working knowledge of PLC and SCADA systems
• Competency in AutoCAD Electrical or similar design software
• Demonstrated commissioning and site experience
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently under pressure

Location: Pretoria-based, with travel to project sites across South Africa, Africa and internationally as required.
