Placements24 is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for our client in Sandton, Gauteng. You will lead electrical design for power generation projects, oversee execution and commissioning, and mentor junior engineers.

You will have a BEng/BSc in Electrical Engineering with 6+ years of experience in HV/MV systems, and proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, and PSS/E. Knowledge of SA regs and ECSA registration are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
• Experience with high- and medium-voltage electrical systems.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP and PSS/E.

Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design and engineering for power generation projects, from concept to commissioning.
• Develop detailed electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams.
• Specify electrical equipment, including switchgear, transformers, generators, motors, and control systems.
• Perform power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, and arc flash analysis.
• Ensure designs comply with national and international electrical codes and standards (e.g., SANS, IEEE, IEC).
• Oversee the procurement process for electrical equipment and materials.
• Provide technical support during the construction and commissioning phases, including site inspections.
• Collaborate with project teams to manage project timelines, budgets, and technical risks.
• Mentor junior electrical engineers and provide technical guidance.
