Placements24 is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for power generation projects based in Vereeniging, Gauteng. You will lead electrical design and oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems across substations, transmission lines, and related infrastructure.

You will bring a strong background in Power Systems, SCADA, and protection coordination, with 9+ years of experience and Pr.Eng. registration with ECSA.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related specialization.
• Pr. Eng. registration with ECSA is mandatory.
• 9+ years of progressive experience in electrical engineering, with focus on power generation, transmission or distribution.
• Experience in designing and managing large-scale electrical infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design and engineering for power generation projects, including renewables and conventional plants.
• Develop detailed electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and specifications.
• Perform load calculations, system studies, and equipment selection.
• Oversee installation, commissioning, and testing of electrical equipment and systems.
• Ensure compliance with electrical codes and safety regulations.
• Collaborate with project managers and external stakeholders.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and technicians.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design and engineering for power generation projects, including renewable energy sources and conventional power plants.
• Develop detailed electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and technical specifications.

• Manage electrical project budgets and schedules, ensuring cost-effectiveness and timely delivery.
• Conduct site inspections and ensure the quality and integrity of electrical installations.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related specialization.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA is mandatory.
• A minimum of 9 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering, with a strong focus on power generation, transmission, or distribution.
• Proven experience in designing and managing large-scale electrical infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., ETAP, PSS/E, AutoCAD Electrical) and simulation tools.
• In-depth knowledge of power systems protection, control systems, and SCADA.
• Strong understanding of safety protocols and hazardous area classifications.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in Vereeniging, Gauteng or similar industrial regions is a plus.
• Willingness to undertake site visits as required.
