Job summary

Shift Pursuit in Cape Town seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead design of building services, industrial infrastructure and mission-critical power systems for Data Centre projects. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on local and international developments, delivering concepts through to close-out.

The role requires 7+ years of consulting experience, MV/LV expertise, and proficiency with standards (IEC, SANS, BS).

Qualifications

Minimum 7 years’ consulting engineering experience in building services or industrial environments.
Strong knowledge of MV/LV power distribution systems.
Experience with standby generators, UPS, transformers, switchgear, and synchronisation schemes.
Experience with power system studies (load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, arc flash) using eTAP or similar.
Knowledge of IEC, SANS and BS electrical standards.
Data Centre project experience is advantageous.
Experience using Autodesk Revit and Navisworks.
Understanding of JBCC, FIDIC and NEC contracts.
Strong communication, leadership and client engagement skills.
Ability to work independently while leading multidisciplinary project teams.

Responsibilities

Deliver electrical engineering designs from concept through detailed design, construction and project close-out.
Design and coordinate Medium and Low Voltage electrical power systems for commercial, industrial and mission-critical facilities.
Develop resilient electrical infrastructure solutions with a focus on redundancy, operational continuity and system reliability.
Perform electrical power system studies including load flow, short circuit, protection coordination and arc flash analysis.
Specify and integrate MV systems, transformers, standby generators, UPS systems and switchgear.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams across local and international projects.
Liaise directly with clients, contractors and professional teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Produce high-quality technical reports, specifications and engineering documentation.
Ensure designs comply with relevant IEC, SANS and international electrical standards.
Conduct design reviews and maintain high technical and quality standards.
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance throughout project delivery.
Promote SHEQ principles and contribute to achieving Zero Harm objectives.
Participate in project meetings and provide technical input across multiple engineering disciplines.
Support project planning, programme management and successful delivery within budget and schedule.
Build and maintain strong client relationships while contributing to business development initiatives.
Stay current with emerging technologies within the electrical engineering and building services industry.
