Job summary

The role involves acting as lead engineer on projects spanning feasibility, basic and detail design, commissioning and start-up, with extensive client interaction.

Qualifications

• BSc. Electrical Engineering degree.
• 12–15 years engineering experience; 8 years contracting in energy/chemical/refining/petrochemical industries.
• Lead Engineer on at least 3 large projects in basic/detail engineering with commissioning/start-up; ECSA registration required.

Responsibilities

• Interact with client and act as part of the owner's team.
• Perform as lead engineer on projects and reviews (PFD, P&ID, HAZOP, SIL).
• Lead Hazardous Area Classification reviews and manpower planning with project schedules.
• Prepare Scope of Work/Works Information for consultants to meet scope, quality and schedule.
• Execute projects within schedule and budget and perform electrical design deliverables.
• Conduct network studies and protection grading; design medium and low voltage substations.
• Engage in all project phases from feasibility to commissioning.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer with relevant design house experience to join the Electrical Engineering Department.

The successful candidate will be required to fulfil the following job description but not limited to:

• Interaction with the client and forming part of an owner's team with the client
• Performing lead engineer role.
• Lead or participate in PFD and P&ID Reviews, HAZOP and SIL reviews, 3D model and constructability reviews
• Lead Hazardous Area Classification Reviews
• Perform manpower planning and project schedule management for the project process team
• Preparation of Scope of Work / Works Information for supply of services and management of consultants to deliver to scope, quality and schedule.
• Execute projects within schedule and budget
• General electrical design activities/ deliverables
• Network studies and protection grading studies.
• Detail medium and low voltage substation design, including equipment specification and selection.

The scope of this role will require the incumbent to work in a projects based environment covering all phases of project execution (feasibility, concept, basic, detail, construction support and commissioning).

The individual will engage in electrical design activities related to producing and checking electrical engineering deliverables.

The scope of this role will require the incumbent to function in a resource and/ or lead role on projects.

As a project process engineer, the individual will be responsible for electrical deliverables and quality on the project.

• The successful candidate must be in possession of a BSc. Electrical Engineering degree with 12-15 years engineering experience of which 8 years should be in a contracting environment working on projects in the energy and chemical/ refining / petrochemical industries.
• Lead Engineer Experience.
• Professional Registration with ECSA is required.
• The successful candidate must have successfully performed in the position of lead engineer on at least 3 large projects in the basic and detail engineering phase. The candidate must have participated in commissioning and plant start-up.
