G7 Renewable Energies is a South African renewable energy developer and Independent Power Producer (IPP) focused on the development, financing, construction and operation of utility-scale wind, solar PV and battery energy storage (BESS) projects.
Since 2008, G7 has built a proven track record of originating, developing and delivering renewable energy projects across South Africa. The company has successfully developed and realised more than 1 GW of renewable energy capacity that has either reached construction or commercial operation and is currently advancing a development pipeline exceeding 7 GW.
With expertise spanning project origination, permitting, grid connection, financing, construction and operations, G7 has established itself as a trusted partner in South Africa's energy transition, delivering utility-scale projects that support a more sustainable, secure and resilient energy future.
The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for leading the engineering, design, integration, commissioning, and technical delivery of electrical systems associated with utility-scale renewable energy projects, including wind farms, solar PV facilities, battery energy storage systems (BESS), substations, grid connections, SCADA systems, and plant performance monitoring.
The role provides technical leadership across the project lifecycle, from feasibility and design through construction, commissioning, operations, and optimisation. The incumbent will support project development, project delivery, and operational teams while ensuring compliance with applicable grid codes, industry standards, quality requirements, and project objectives.
A key aspect of the role includes managing electrical engineering deliverables, supporting contractor oversight, contributing to grid integration activities, analysing operational performance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across G7's renewable energy portfolio.
This profile is well suited to a candidate with a strong blend of renewable energy operations, grid integration, electrical engineering design, SCADA systems, control systems, and project delivery experience, capable of providing both engineering leadership and technical oversight across G7's renewable energy project portfolio.
