Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Lead Electrical Design Engineer to join a globally distributed team, working remotely from South Africa. This senior role leads the design and development of complex electrical systems for large-scale industrial and infrastructure projects, guiding a team and setting design standards from concept to commissioning.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• 10+ years in electrical engineering design with lead/senior responsibility.
• Proven ability to lead design teams and manage complex projects.
• Expertise in power systems analysis, protection, and HV applications.
• Proficiency with advanced electrical design and simulation software.
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design process for major industrial projects, including power distribution, substations, and control systems.
• Develop and enforce high standards for electrical design, ensuring compliance with international codes and regulations.
• Mentor and manage a team of electrical engineers, providing technical direction and performance feedback.
• Oversee the preparation of detailed design documents, specifications, and engineering calculations.
• Collaborate with project managers, clients, and other engineering disciplines to achieve project goals.
• Conduct design reviews, risk assessments, and provide technical support during construction and commissioning phases.
