Placements24 is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer with a specialization in renewable energy to join our Randburg team. You will lead the electrical design of solar and wind projects from concept through documentation, ensuring compliance with IEEE/IEC standards and client specs.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in electrical design for renewable energy, experience with AutoCAD Electrical, PSS/E, ETAP, and a track record of delivering on large-scale projects in hybrid work environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in electrical design, with focus on renewable energy (solar, wind).
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical, PSS/E, ETAP or similar tools.
• Thorough understanding of IEEE/IEC standards and safety regulations.
• Experience with energy storage systems and grid interconnection is desirable.
• Excellent project management, communication and problem-solving skills for a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design of utility-scale renewable energy projects, including site layout, single-line diagrams, and grounding systems.
• Develop detailed designs for medium/high-voltage collection systems, substations, and interconnection facilities.
• Prepare technical specifications for transformers, switchgear, inverters, and cables.
• Perform electrical studies including load flow, short circuit, arc flash, and grounding analysis.
• Review and approve design drawings, calculations, and submittals from vendors and contractors.
• Provide technical support during construction and commissioning in Randburg.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly competent Senior Electrical Design Engineer with a specialization in Renewable Energy projects to join their team in Randburg . This role is pivotal in developing innovative electrical designs for solar farms, wind energy facilities, and hybrid power systems. You will lead the design process from conceptualization to final documentation, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and client specifications. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in electrical system design for renewable energy, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for driving sustainable energy solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design of utility-scale renewable energy projects , including site layout, single-line diagrams, and grounding systems.
• Develop detailed designs for medium and high-voltage collection systems, substations, and interconnection facilities.
• Prepare technical specifications for electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, inverters, and cables.
