Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design engineering with a focus on industrial automation.
• Proficiency in PLC programming (Siemens, Allen‑Bradley) and HMI software.
• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or similar ECAD software for schematic design.
• Solid understanding of industrial control systems, motor controls, and power distribution.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent player in the manufacturing and industrial sector, is seeking a talented Electrical Design Engineer with a specialization in Industrial Automation to join their team in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape . This role will involve the design, development, and implementation of electrical control systems for various manufacturing processes. You will work on cutting‑edge automation projects, ensuring the efficiency, safety, and reliability of our production lines. The position offers a blend of on‑site collaboration and remote flexibility, contributing to impactful technological advancements within the company. This role is vital for maintaining and enhancing our automated production capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panels for automated machinery and production lines. Select appropriate electrical components, including PLCs, HMIs, sensors, drives, and motor control centers. Program and configure Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Human‑Machine Interfaces (HMIs) for various industrial applications. Collaborate with mechanical engineers and automation specialists to integrate electrical systems into overall machine designs. Conduct electrical system testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning to ensure optimal performance and safety. Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, user manuals, and maintenance procedures. Ensure compliance with all relevant electrical codes, safety standards (e.g., OSHA, relevant SANS), and company policies. Provide technical support to production and maintenance teams to resolve electrical issues. Research and recommend new automation technologies to improve manufacturing processes.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution. Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design engineering, with a strong focus on industrial automation. Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen‑Bradley) and HMI software. Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or similar ECAD software for schematic design. Solid understanding of industrial control systems, motor controls, and power distribution. Familiarity with relevant industry standards and safety regulations. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Good communication and teamwork abilities. Experience with VFDs and servo systems is a plus.
