Job summary

Placements24 in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal, seeks an Electrical Design & Implementation Engineer to lead electrical systems design, development, and commissioning for industrial machinery. You will manage the full lifecycle from concept to handover with cross-functional teams.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering with 4–6 years’ experience, PLC/HMI, motor control, and CAD tools. A hybrid work model and growth opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 4–6 years of experience in electrical design and implementation.
• Proficiency with PLC programming (Siemens/Allen-Bradley) and HMI development.
• Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, motor control, power distribution, and instrumentation.
• Experience with CAD software for electrical design (AutoCAD Electrical).
• Willingness to work a hybrid schedule and overtime when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical schematics, control panels, and wiring diagrams for manufacturing equipment.
• Specify components, motors, drives, and control devices.
• Implement and commission electrical control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs.
• Develop and execute test plans to ensure functionality and safety.
• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and control system issues during implementation and operation.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers and production teams to integrate electrical systems into machinery.
• Maintain accurate documentation, including design files, BOMs, and as-built drawings.
• Stay current with advancements in electrical engineering and industrial automation technologies.
