SENIOR E-COMMERCE OPERATIONS & FINANCE MANAGER

POSITION PURPOSE
The Senior E-Commerce Operations & Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing and improving the operational, commercial and financial performance of Loot.co.za.
The role combines e-commerce operations, finance, data analysis, inventory, supplier management, financial controls and process optimization, with a strong focus on profitability, efficiency and sustainable business growth.
The successful candidate will be expected to analyze business performance, identify opportunities and risks, and drive practical solutions across the e-commerce operation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
E-Commerce & Operations
- Oversee and optimize end-to-end e-commerce operational processes.
- Monitor sales, orders, fulfilment, cancellations, returns and operational performance.
- Identify operational inefficiencies and implement improvements.
- Work closely with Buying, Warehouse, IT, Operations and other departments to improve operational efficiency and customer experience.
- Develop and improve operational processes, controls and procedures.
Finance & Commercial Performance
- Monitor and analyze revenue, gross margin, profitability and operating costs.
- Prepare and analyze budgets, forecasts and management reports.
- Identify margin leakage, cost-saving opportunities and financial risks.
- Analyze profitability by product, category, supplier and other relevant business areas.
- Provide senior management with actionable financial and commercial insights.
- Support cash-flow and working-capital management.
Inventory & Supplier Management
- Monitor stock levels, stock turnover, aged/slow-moving and obsolete stock.
- Analyze inventory valuation and investigate discrepancies.
- Monitor supplier balances, pricing, discounts, rebates and commercial terms.
- Identify opportunities to improve supplier performance and working capital.
- Work closely with Finance and Buying to ensure accurate supplier and inventory information.
Reconciliations & Financial Controls
- Oversee reconciliation of e-commerce transactions, payment providers, banking and accounting records.
- Investigate and resolve financial and operational variances.
- Monitor payments, refunds, chargebacks and settlement processes.
- Maintain effective financial and operational controls.
- Assist with month-end reporting, audits and financial requirements.
Data, Systems & Process Improvement
- Analyze e-commerce, operational and financial data to identify trends and opportunities.
- Develop and maintain meaningful reports and dashboards.
- Identify opportunities for automation and improved system integration.
- Work with IT and other stakeholders to improve data accuracy, reporting and business processes.
- Drive continuous improvement across the business.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Business, Operations, Supply Chain or a related field.
- Minimum 5–8 years’ relevant experience, preferably in e-commerce, online retail, retail or another high-volume transactional environment.
- Strong experience in Finance and Operations, with proven commercial understanding.
- Experience with inventory, supplier management, reconciliations, budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
- Strong understanding of e-commerce operations and the online retail customer journey.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong data-analysis capabilities.
- Experience with ERP, accounting, e-commerce or business intelligence systems.
- Experience in process improvement and automation.
- Professional accounting qualification such as CA(SA), CIMA, ACCA, SAIPA or equivalent would be advantageous.
