Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Drilling Fluids Engineer to join their team, supporting drilling operations chiefly in the Kimberley region. You will design, implement, and optimize drilling fluid systems to ensure safe, efficient well construction in the Oil & Gas sector.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or related field.
• At least 7 years of upstream drilling fluids engineering experience.
• Deep knowledge of drilling fluid chemistry, properties and additives.
• Experience with water-based, oil-based, and synthetic-based drilling fluids.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work on-site in challenging locations like Kimberley.

Responsibilities

• Design and tailor drilling fluid programs for well objectives and formations.
• Supervise drilling fluid operations on rigs with proper mixing and application.
• Monitor fluid properties and performance, adjusting as needed to optimize drilling.
• Troubleshoot drilling fluid-related issues such as lost circulation, stuck pipe, formation damage.
• Manage inventory and logistics for drilling fluids materials and equipment.
• Ensure environmental compliance for drilling fluid disposal and discharge.
• Provide technical support and training to drilling crews on best practices.
