Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Drilling Fluids Engineer to join our client’s operations team in Cape Town. You will manage and optimize drilling fluid systems to support efficient drilling operations and ensure wellbore stability.

Responsibilities include designing fluid programs, monitoring properties on-site and in the lab, troubleshooting issues such as lost circulation and formation damage, and ensuring safety and environmental compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as a Drilling Fluids Engineer or Mud Engineer.
• In-depth knowledge of drilling fluid systems, properties, and additives.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and best practices in drilling fluid management.
• Strong problem-solving capabilities and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design, recommend, and implement drilling fluid programs tailored to specific well conditions and geological formations.
• Monitor fluid properties on-site and in the lab, making necessary adjustments to maintain optimal performance.
• Troubleshoot drilling problems such as lost circulation, wellbore instability, and formation damage related to fluid issues.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations pertaining to drilling fluid handling and disposal.
• Manage inventory of drilling fluid chemicals and equipment, ensuring timely procurement and efficient utilization.
• Provide technical support and training to drilling crews on fluid-related matters.

Education
