Job summary
Placements24 seeks a highly experienced Senior Drilling Fluids Engineer to oversee design, performance and cost-effectiveness of drilling fluid systems in the Stellenbosch region. You will provide expert technical support on-site and remotely, troubleshoot complex fluid challenges, and ensure that fluid programs meet geological and operational requirements.
The role offers a hybrid work arrangement and opportunities to contribute to major energy projects in the Western Cape.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum or Chemical Engineering.
- 8+ years of drilling fluids engineering experience.
- Ability to manage and optimize drilling fluid systems.
- Experience with solids control equipment.
Responsibilities
- Design and manage drilling fluid programs tailored to well objectives and formations.
- Provide on-site and remote technical support to drilling operations.
- Troubleshoot drilling fluid issues, including lost circulation and wellbore instability.
- Monitor fluid performance, analyze data, and optimize efficiency and safety.
- Ensure regulatory compliance for environmental drilling fluid disposal and management.
