• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Petroleum, Mechanical) or related science.
• Minimum 4 years of experience as Drilling Fluids Engineer or related mud engineering role in Oil & Gas.
• Solid understanding of drilling fluid chemistry, rheology, and properties.
• Experience with mud logging data and analysis.
• Ability to work under pressure in a field environment.

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Drilling Fluids Engineer to join their operational team in Stellenbosch . This role is vital for ensuring the effective performance and management of drilling fluid systems, which are critical for safe and efficient drilling operations in the Oil & Gas exploration and production. You will be responsible for designing fluid programs, monitoring fluid properties, and troubleshooting any issues that arise, working closely with drilling engineers and rig crews to achieve optimal results.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and recommend drilling fluid systems tailored to specific well conditions and geological formations.
• Supervise the mixing and maintenance of drilling fluids on location, ensuring they meet technical specifications.
• Monitor drilling fluid performance, conduct routine tests, and analyze data to optimize fluid properties.
• Provide technical support and recommendations for addressing drilling challenges related to fluid performance (e.g., lost circulation, shale inhibition).
• Manage inventory of drilling fluid chemicals and additives, and ensure cost-effective usage.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Petroleum, Mechanical) or a related science.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Drilling Fluids Engineer or in a related mud engineering role within the Oil & Gas industry.
