Placements24 partners with a leading Oil & Gas operator to recruit a Drilling Engineer for an on-site role in Paarl, Western Cape. The candidate will lead planning, execution, and safe completion of complex drilling programs, with emphasis on well design, risk management, and on-site leadership.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering, at least 6 years of drilling experience, and proficiency in drilling fluids, cementing, and well-control.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Minimum 6 years of Drilling Engineer experience in Oil & Gas.
• Proven experience in well construction and execution.
• Strong knowledge of drilling fluids, cementing, well control, and formation evaluation.
• Familiarity with drilling rig operations and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed drilling programs for onshore and offshore wells.
• Design well trajectories, casing programs, and cementing strategies.
• Oversee drilling operations on the rig site and ensure safety compliance.
• Manage drilling risks and mitigation measures.
• Monitor drilling performance and report daily activities.
• Coordinate with geologists, geophysicists and production engineers.
• Control drilling-related costs while maintaining safety and quality.
• Stay updated on drilling technology advancements.
