Placements24 is seeking a Senior Drilling Engineer in Welkom to manage field operations, plan well construction, supervise crews, and ensure safety, efficiency, and environmental compliance in onshore projects.

The role requires strong technical leadership and hands-on involvement in drilling activities, with a focus on meeting timelines and budgets while coordinating with service providers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a relevant engineering field.
• 8+ years of experience in drilling engineering, with significant exposure to onshore operations.
• Proven experience in well planning, execution, and supervision of drilling rigs.
• Strong knowledge of drilling fluids, cementing, directional drilling, and well control principles.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote operational setting.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage detailed drilling plans, including well design, casing programs, and directional drilling strategies.
• Supervise drilling crews and service providers on location, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
• Monitor drilling progress, identify potential risks, and implement corrective actions to maintain project timelines and budgets.
• Manage the procurement of drilling equipment and services, ensuring compliance with company standards and contracts.
• Conduct post-well analysis and debriefings to capture lessons learned and improve future performance.
• Maintain accurate drilling records and prepare detailed operational reports.
