Job summary

Surbana Jurong in Pretoria is seeking an experienced BIM Engineer to model and detail complex projects using Autodesk Revit, Civil 3D and Bentley applications. You will develop templates and libraries to maintain drawing standards and drive BIM implementation across the office.

The role includes trouble-shooting Autodesk interfaces, mentoring junior staff, and presenting 3D model visuals for client meetings.

Qualifications

• Experience in BIM modelling and detailing for large-scale projects.
• Strong knowledge of BIM standards and ISO-19650 is desirable.
• Ability to mentor junior staff and lead project tasks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Modelling and Detailing
• Autodesk, Revit, Civil 3D and Bentley implementation for team
• Develop Autodesk templates/ Libraries and tools to maintain standards
• Programming within Autodesk (Visual Coding/Automation)
• Quality audit on outgoing drawings
• Standardisation of all drawings on project
• Visualization of 3D models of projects for presentations
• BIM implementation
• Handling all Autodesk troubleshooting and setting up of interfaces in respective department
• Participating in office technical discussions and project delivery meetings
• Mentor, train and provide technical support to junior staff
• Conducting conceptual and detailed design and modelling to prepare technical drawings and documentation
• Provide practical and economical solutions to project deliverables
• Applying a deeper understanding of modelling principles to devise and deliver practical and economical solutions to problems
• Maintain a high level of Modelling expertise and engineering knowledge
• Undertake supervisor role and lead on projects
• Ensure drawings and documentation are to the highest quality
• Maintain internal and external client satisfaction
• Strictly adhere to SMEC’s Management System (MS), quality standards and OHS procedures
• Introduce Graduate Engineers to in-house standards and the practical application of tasks and construction techniques
• Assist Project Managers with site queries and reporting solutions
