Job summary

Mooiuitsig Wine Estate in Bonnievale, Western Cape, is seeking a Senior Diesel Mechanic and Workshop Manager to join our team in a full-time permanent role. You will lead a skilled workshop, perform fault finding on diesel engines and hydraulics, ensure OEM and safety standards, and mentor apprentices while driving site maintenance excellence.

The role requires a Red Seal diesel trade test and 10 years’ experience, with a valid driver’s license and PDP preferred.

Qualifications

• Qualified Diesel Trade Test (Red Seal) from an accredited post-trade heavy diesel mechanical institution.
• 10 years of experience, with commercial transport fleet experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and PDP are highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform fault finding, diagnostic assessments and root cause analysis on diesel engines and components.
• Ensure all work meets OEM and safety standards.
• Complete job cards, service reports, and parts requests accurately.
• Assist with training and mentoring of junior mechanics and apprentices.
• Lead and manage the workshop team to achieve company goals.

CORE DUTIES

• Perform accurate fault finding, diagnostic assessments and root cause analysis on various diesel engine makes (Mercedes/Hino/Toyota Trucks, Toyota Forklifts, Toyota bakkies, Hendred & BPW axles and suspensions)
• Ensure all work meets strict OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) and Safety Standards
• Complete all necessary job cards, service reports, and parts requests accurately
• Assist with training and mentoring of junior mechanic and apprentices
• Lead and manage your team to achieve company goals

REQUIREMENTS

• Qualified Diesel Trade Test (Red Seal) from an accredited post-trade heavy diesel mechanical institution
• 10 years of experience (Experience with commercial transport fleet is a distinct advantage)
• Valid driver’s license and valid PDP are highly preferred
