Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Commercial Vehicle Technician to join the maintenance team near Klerksdorp, North West. You will diagnose, repair and service a diverse fleet of trucks, trailers and vans with a diesel focus.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, record-keeping, and timely collaboration with fleet managers to minimize downtime while upholding safety and quality workmanship. Overtime opportunities may apply.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as a Diesel Mechanic or equivalent certification.
• Minimum of 4 years of proven experience as a Commercial Vehicle Technician.
• Experience in fleet maintenance settings.
• Knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, braking and electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic tests to identify mechanical and electrical issues in commercial vehicles.
• Repair and service trucks, trailers and vans with focus on diesel engines, transmissions, brakes and suspension.
• Conduct routine preventative maintenance to ensure fleet reliability.
• Execute scheduled servicing, oil changes and part replacements per manufacturer specs and company standards.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs, including parts and labor hours.
• Adhere to safety regulations and company policies in the workshop.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude, a thorough understanding of diesel engines and vehicle systems, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality workmanship. You will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and servicing a variety of vehicles, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum operational efficiency for our fleet serving the North West province. Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of proven experience as a Commercial Vehicle Technician, preferably in a fleet maintenance setting.
• In-depth knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, braking systems, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems in heavy-duty vehicles.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, multimeters, and other relevant mechanical equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Good understanding of health and safety procedures in a workshop environment.
• Must be physically fit and able to work in demanding conditions.
