Placements24 is seeking an experienced Commercial Vehicle Technician for a Rustenburg, North West workshop. You will maintain, repair and diagnose a diverse fleet of heavy-duty trucks and other commercial vehicles in a well-equipped facility.

The role requires strong mechanical aptitude, diesel engine and transmission knowledge, hydraulics and air brake expertise, and the ability to read manuals and work safely.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Commercial Vehicle Technician or Heavy Duty Mechanic.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions and drivetrains.
• Experience with hydraulic and air brake systems.
• Ability to read and interpret repair manuals.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client, a premier commercial vehicle service center in Rustenburg, North West, is seeking an experienced and qualified Commercial Vehicle Technician. This challenging role involves the maintenance, repair, and diagnostics of a diverse fleet of heavy-duty trucks, buses, and other commercial vehicles. You will be working in a well-equipped workshop in Rustenburg, utilizing advanced diagnostic tools and equipment to ensure minimal downtime for our clients' essential fleets. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety and efficiency in the demanding North West region.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on heavy-duty trucks and commercial vehicles.
• Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, suspension, braking, and electrical systems.
• Conduct comprehensive vehicle inspections, identifying potential issues and recommending necessary repairs.
• Utilize diagnostic software and hardware to troubleshoot complex vehicle problems.
• Service and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems commonly found on commercial vehicles.
• Ensure all repairs are carried out to manufacturer specifications and safety regulations.
• Maintain accurate service records and communicate effectively with workshop supervisors.
• Adhere to strict health and safety procedures within the workshop environment in Rustenburg.

Requirements

• Proven experience working as a Commercial Vehicle Technician or Heavy Duty Mechanic.
• Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, and drivetrains.
• Experience with hydraulic and air brake systems is essential.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment for commercial vehicles.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and repair schematics.
• Relevant trade qualifications (e.g., Diesel Mechanic trade test) are highly desirable.
• A valid driver's license (Code 10 or higher) is required for this role in North West.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
