Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer in Paarl to join our IT operations team. You will bridge development and operations, automating deployment, infrastructure, and processes to boost reliability, scalability, and performance.

The role emphasizes building robust CI/CD pipelines, implementing IaC with Terraform/Ansible, and managing cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP) with a strong focus on security and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or system administration roles.
• Proficiency with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps) and scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python).
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
• Solid understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and networking concepts.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated application deployment and testing.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to ensure high availability and reliability.
• Manage cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP), ensuring security, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
• Collaborate closely with development and QA teams to improve the software development lifecycle.
• Implement and manage logging, monitoring, and alerting systems to proactively identify potential issues.
