Placements24 is seeking a Senior Design Engineer in Stellenbosch, Western Cape, to lead the design and development of advanced automotive mechanical systems. You will deliver 3D CAD models, BOMs, and validations, guiding projects from concept to production in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires at least 7 years in automotive mechanical design, strong CAD/CAE proficiency, and leadership capabilities. On-site position with opportunities for growth and collaboration with suppliers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in mechanical design engineering, with automotive focus.
• Proficiency in CAD/CAE software and automotive systems knowledge.
• Experience with automotive testing procedures and validation processes.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to lead projects and mentor junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of complex automotive mechanical systems and components.
• Create detailed 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and BOMs using industry tools.
• Perform FEA and CFD analyses to validate designs.
• Collaborate with vehicle integration, manufacturing, and suppliers for feasibility.
• Develop prototype testing plans and implement design modifications.
• Ensure designs comply with automotive standards and customer requirements.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Document design processes, specs, and progress.
• Troubleshoot design issues and drive solutions through development cycle.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and tools.
