Job summary

RELX is seeking a Data Engineer to support Global Operations Metrics & Technology. You will design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and platforms to enable high-quality analytics and AI-ready data.

The role emphasizes automation, performance, and collaboration with technical and business partners. You will work with SQL as a primary tool to transform and validate data across systems, while contributing to robust data architectures and reproducible workflows.

Qualifications

• Professional data engineering experience building data pipelines and platforms.
• Strong SQL expertise with complex queries, performance tuning, and data validation.
• Experience in data modeling, file management, and data transformation workflows.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python/Java) for data tooling.
• Familiarity with cloud services (AWS/Azure/GCP) and data platforms.
• Understanding of version control, testing, and solid software practices.
• Exposure to AI, ML, or data automation tools is a plus.
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau is desirable.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in a related field.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and integrations for analytics and AI use cases.
• Develop high-quality, well-tested code focused on readability, security, and maintainability.
• Query, transform, validate, and optimize data across systems using SQL.
• Collaborate with partners to translate data needs into practical solutions.
• Document data requirements and contribute to analytics/AI-enabled workflow specs.
• Troubleshoot data issues with root-cause analysis and automation where possible.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation or orchestration.
• Participate in code reviews and development processes to ensure reproducibility and data quality.
• Support database and data flow management to meet reliability standards.
