• Proficient in Python for building data pipelines and services.
• Strong SQL skills for large datasets and optimized schemas.
• Experience in data engineering or backend engineering with end-to-end ownership.
• Ability to make sound architectural trade-offs.
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical initiatives.
• Comfortable in fast-paced, collaborative teams.
• Experience developing and maintaining APIs and services.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, build, and maintenance of data pipelines and backend services using Python.
• Write efficient SQL for data extraction, transformation and analysis; set standards for queries and schemas.
• Develop and maintain APIs (e.g. FastAPI) to expose data to internal/external consumers.
• Own data system design decisions balancing scalability and reliability.
• Collaborate with analysts, scientists, and engineers to meet data needs.
• Drive infrastructure design and upkeep for data workloads (containers, orchestration).
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve performance of data systems; lead incident analysis.
• Mentor engineers, lead code reviews, raise technical bar.
