Crew Life at Sea Ltd. in international waters seeks an experienced Chief Engineer to lead the onboard engineering department and oversee all machinery, maintenance, and safety compliance on a commercial vessel.

You will manage budgets, train junior engineers, coordinate with other departments, and ensure reliability of propulsion and auxiliary systems while maintaining regulatory standards and high safety culture at sea.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as Chief Engineer on a commercial vessel.
• Valid Chief Engineer license and all required certifications.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and industry standards.
• Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Proficient in using computer systems and software related to engineering operations.

Responsibilities

• Manage and lead the engineering department, including assigning tasks and providing guidance and support to team members.
• Oversee the maintenance, repair, and operation of all machinery and equipment onboard the cruise ship.
• Ensure all machinery and equipment are in compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
• Monitor and maintain inventory of spare parts and supplies.
• Develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures.
• Conduct regular inspections and tests to identify and address any potential issues.
• Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth operation of the vessel.
• Train and mentor junior engineers and crew members.
• Keep accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities.
• Manage budget and expenses related to the engineering department.
• Stay updated on industry developments and advancements in technology to improve efficiency and safety on board the vessel.
