Job summary

Elchemie in Gauteng is seeking an experienced Control Room Manager to lead daily operations of the site’s control room and ensure continuous security monitoring.

You will supervise operators, enforce protocols, optimize surveillance systems (HikCentral, Cathexis), and coordinate with Mine Management and stakeholders. A senior role requiring PSIRA Grade A, 10+ years in CCTV/control room security, and a valid SA driver’s license and own vehicle.

Qualifications

• PSIRA Grade A registration is mandatory.

• Valid SA driver’s license and own reliable vehicle.

Job description

What you’ll be doing

• Manage the daily operations of the control room, ensuring optimal performance and security monitoring
• Supervise and coordinate control room operators to enforce compliance with security protocols and procedures
• Monitor, manage, and optimize surveillance systems, including HikCentral and Cathexis
• Analyze security threats, alarms, and incidents, taking immediate and appropriate action in coordination with site security teams
• Act as a key liaison with Mine Management, representing the company in formal SRM (Stakeholder Relationship Management) reviews
• Develop and implement control room policies, procedures and reporting structures
• Conduct training and refresher courses for control room staff on system operations and emergency response protocols
• Maintain accurate records and produce high-level reports and presentations on incidents, security breaches and system performance
• Ensure all security equipment is operational, maintained and regularly tested
• Provide strong operational leadership and ensure the control room maintains a professional, disciplined and compliant environment

What you’ll need

• PSIRA Registration (Grade A) – mandatory
• Minimum 10 years’ CCTV / Control Room Security Industry Experience
• Excellent and proven Control Room Security management experience – mandatory
• Valid South African driver’s license and own reliable vehicle – mandatory
• Must reside in the West Rand area or be willing to relocate at own cost
• South African citizenship – mandatory
• Clear criminal record (verification required)
• Proven experience in a control room environment, preferably within mining or high-risk security
• Strong knowledge of security systems, including HikCentral and Cathexis
• Exceptional leadership, decision-making and team management skills
• Strong presentation, reporting and stakeholder engagement capabilitiesAbility to professionally represent the company in discussions with Mine Management and external stakeholders
• Technical understanding of surveillance equipment, alarms and access control technologies
• Capacity to perform under pressure and make critical security decisions in real time

Preferred

• Previous experience in mining security operations
• Additional certifications in security management or surveillance systems
• Experience in incident investigation, risk assessment and conflict resolution
• Strategic thinking, proactive risk management and strong communication/diplomacy skills

A Few Things to Know

• The position is based at a mine site in the West Rand of Gauteng, in the Randfontein / Westonaria area
• The successful candidate have their own reliable vehicle and valid South African driver’s license
• PSIRA Grade A registration, valid license, own vehicle and South African citizenship are non-negotiable
• The successful candidate must have a clear criminal record
• Appointment will be subject to successfully passing the required mine-site medical assessment and polygraph examination
