Job summary

Placements24 in South Africa seeks a seasoned Construction Project Manager to lead major commercial development projects in George, Western Cape. You will own planning, procurement, and delivery, ensuring on-time, on-budget completion and strict quality and safety standards on-site.

You will coordinate with architects, engineers, clients, and regulators, manage subcontractors and costs, and drive project reporting to senior management.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years in construction project management with commercial developments.
• In-depth knowledge of South Africa building regulations and methods.
• Proficiency with project management software and financial tools.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the entire lifecycle of commercial construction projects from conception to handover.
• Develop detailed project plans including scope, timelines, budgets, resources and risk management.
• Coordinate on-site activities including subcontractor supervision, procurement and quality control.
• Ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations (e.g., OHS Act) and environmental standards.
• Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers, subcontractors and clients.
• Monitor progress against the plan and mitigate delays or cost overruns.
• Prepare regular progress reports detailing status, challenges and financial performance.
• Foster relationships with architects, engineers, clients and regulatory bodies.
• Implement best practices in project management and construction methodologies.
