About the Role

Our client, a major player in the maritime and logistics sector, is seeking an experienced Senior Construction Manager to oversee critical infrastructure development projects within the **Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal** port. This is a challenging and rewarding role requiring extensive experience in managing large-scale marine and heavy civil construction projects. You will be responsible for the planning, execution, and successful completion of projects that enhance the port's operational capabilities and capacity. The role demands strong leadership, a deep understanding of marine construction techniques, and rigorous adherence to safety and environmental standards. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the overall construction management of port infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
• Develop and implement comprehensive project execution plans, schedules, and budgets.
• Manage and coordinate all site activities, including subcontractors, suppliers, and direct labor.
• Ensure strict compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality (HSEQ) regulations specific to port operations.
• Oversee the procurement of materials and equipment, ensuring timely delivery and cost-effectiveness.
• Manage project risks, issues, and changes effectively to minimize disruptions and financial impact.
• Conduct regular site inspections, performance reviews, and quality control assessments.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• A minimum of 10-12 years of progressive experience in construction management, with at least 5 years focused on large-scale port or marine infrastructure projects.
• Proven expertise in managing complex civil engineering works, including dredging, quay construction, and breakwaters.
• In-depth knowledge of marine construction methods, materials, and associated risks.
• Professional registration (e.g., Pr.Eng, Pr.CM) is highly advantageous.
• Strong understanding of contract management (e.g., FIDIC, NEC).
• Exceptional leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Proficiency in project management software.
