About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and accomplished Senior Construction Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of construction operations for significant building projects. This is a demanding, on-site role requiring a leader with a proven track record in managing large-scale construction initiatives from start to finish. You will be responsible for project planning, resource allocation, budget management, safety compliance, and quality assurance, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. We are looking for a strategic thinker with exceptional leadership capabilities, strong decision-making skills, and a comprehensive understanding of construction best practices and regulations. This position is central to our project success and is based in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, ZA .

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all construction activities on-site, ensuring adherence to project plans, specifications, and quality standards.
• Develop and implement detailed construction schedules and resource management plans.
• Oversee project budgets, monitor expenditures, and implement cost-control measures to ensure profitability.
• Ensure strict compliance with all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations and company policies.
• Manage relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure seamless project execution.
• Conduct regular site inspections and progress reviews to maintain high standards of workmanship and identify potential issues.
• Resolve on-site conflicts and technical challenges effectively and efficiently.
• Approve work plans, manage site resources, and ensure optimal productivity.
• Prepare comprehensive project reports, including progress updates, financial status, and risk assessments for senior management.
• Mentor and develop site staff, fostering a culture of excellence, safety, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Advanced degrees or PMP certification are a plus.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in construction management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Proven experience managing complex building projects such as commercial complexes, residential estates, or industrial facilities.
• In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, building codes, and regulatory requirements.
• Strong understanding of contract administration, risk management, and financial control.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate diverse teams in a challenging environment.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) and construction management platforms.
• Must be willing to reside in or commute regularly to Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, ZA , and travel to project sites as needed.
