• Stellenbosch/Western Cape experience is advantageous.
• Trade qualification is a plus.

About the Role

Our client, a reputable construction company with a diverse portfolio, is seeking an experienced Senior Construction Foreman to lead on-site operations for various commercial and industrial projects in and around Stellenbosch, Western Cape . This role is fundamental to the successful execution of projects, ensuring that work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a practical understanding of construction trades, and the ability to manage a diverse workforce effectively. You will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of site activities, coordinating trades, ensuring adherence to schedules, and maintaining a safe working environment. This is a key position for an individual passionate about hands-on site management and contributing to significant developments in the Western Cape .

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct daily on-site construction activities and personnel.
• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with project plans, specifications, and safety regulations.
• Coordinate the work of various trades and subcontractors on site.
• Manage material and equipment resources to ensure availability and efficient utilization.
• Implement and enforce strict health and safety protocols, conducting regular safety toolbox talks.
• Monitor project progress against the schedule and report any delays or issues.
• Conduct quality control inspections to ensure work meets required standards.
• Maintain a clean and organized worksite, promoting good housekeeping practices.
• Liaise with the Project Manager and Site Engineer on site progress and issues.
• Identify and resolve on-site challenges and conflicts promptly.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Construction Foreman, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and equipment for commercial and industrial projects.
• Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills.
• Solid understanding of health and safety regulations (e.g., OHS Act).
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Experience in the Stellenbosch or surrounding Western Cape areas is advantageous.
• Trade qualification (e.g., Carpenter, Bricklayer) is a plus.
• Ability to motivate a team and foster a positive work environment.
• Basic computer literacy for reporting purposes.
• Valid driver's license.
