The role requires a trade-certified diesel mechanic with at least six years’ experience, strong diagnostic abilities, and the capacity to train junior staff in a well-equipped workshop.

Qualifications

• Qualified Diesel Mechanic with trade test certification (NQF 3/4).
• Minimum of 6 years’ experience as a mechanic in commercial vehicles (trucks, buses, heavy equipment).
• Strong diagnostic skills with electronic tools and manuals.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in commercial trucks and trailers.
• Perform preventative maintenance and routine servicing on fleet vehicles.
• Inspect vehicles and recommend necessary repairs.
• Maintain accurate records of parts used and labor hours.
• Ensure work is safe, efficient, and up to industry standards.
• Use diagnostic equipment to identify complex issues.
• Manage workshop parts inventory and supplies.
• Adhere to safety regulations and keep a clean workshop.
• Stay updated on vehicle technologies and repair methods.
• Train junior mechanics or apprentices as needed.
