Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Commercial Vehicle Technician (Heavy Duty) for our client in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. The role focuses on maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of heavy‑duty trucks with emphasis on diesel engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems.

Physical stamina and safety‑driven workmanship are essential. The successful candidate will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot complex issues, and document all repair activities in a busy workshop environment.

Qualifications

• 4+ years as Heavy-Duty Vehicle Mechanic or Commercial Vehicle Technician.
• Trade qualification in Diesel Mechanical Technology preferred.
• Experience with diesel engines, heavy-duty transmissions, and air brake systems.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools and equipment for commercial vehicles.
• Strong hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy-duty trucks and commercial vehicles.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues in diesel engines, transmissions, and drivelines.
• Service braking systems, suspension, and steering components.
• Read and interpret manuals, diagrams and specifications.
• Maintain accurate service records and safety compliance.
